Event Description

“Visions of the Great Plains” is comprised of whimsical and colorful watercolor paintings inspired by the American Plains and Prairies.

Scott Kirby, a life-long musician and composer known to the Boulder community for having been Musical Director of the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival up until its final season in 2005, only started painting at the age of 40, with no background, training, or even conscious intention of becoming an artist. After sitting down to draw with his girls one day, he found he was then bombarded with images of mostly imaginary scenes from the Great Plains. Art soon moved from passion to compulsion, to a second career, as Kirby continued to paint these scenes, making up a body of work he calls “Visions of the Great Plains.”  Kirby rarely does public exhibits. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy art that exists purely for the joy of expression.
