SUPERIOR, Colorado – September 10th, 2016 – The Boulder Valley Rotary Club is to hold its third annual Beer Fest, alongside the town of Superior’s renowned Chili Festival. The event will feature offerings from twenty-five local craft breweries, and continues to be the single largest fundraiser behind the Boulder Valley Rotary Club’s charitable efforts.

“Our club is incredibly active and has a passionate membership,” explains club president, Jane Engel. “From volunteering around the community, to supplying coats for the homeless in the winter, the Boulder Valley Rotary Club is constantly engaged in bettering our local community and needy communities abroad.”

In the 2015/16 Rotary year, Boulder Valley Rotary Club focused their charitable efforts on a handful of worthy projects, all funded by proceeds from the previous year’s Beer Fest. These included helping at-risk youth from Attention Homes in Boulder, the needy children of Boulder’s Family Learning Center, and holding a winter Coat Drive that supplied thousands of garments to the homeless population of Boulder County. The Dictionary Project was also funded by Beer Fest proceeds, which supplied children in local schools with their own dictionaries.

Boulder Valley Beer Fest will feature local legends of the craft beer scene such as Left Hand Brewing out of Longmont and Gravity Brewing of Louisville – who among many other fine establishments, will be present to slake the thirst of festival-goers with unlimited tastings.

The event will also feature live music, single beer or wine tickets available for purchase, and a VIP tent with a whole slough of additional perks including hors d’oeuvres and exclusive tastings of specialty beers not available outside the tent.

Event Details

The third annual Boulder Valley Beer Fest will be held on Saturday, September 10th, from 2:00 until 6:30 p.m. The festival will take place in conjunction with the Town of Superior’s annual Chili Fest and will be held at the Superior Community Park, 1350 Coalton Road, Superior. Tickets may be purchased online at www.bouldervalleybeerfest.com for $30 in advance, or for $35 at the gate on the day of the festival.
The Art Underground Finalizes Plans for a new Arts Hub facility In Lafayette

Since its inception in 2007, The Art Underground (TAU) has become East Boulder County’s go-to non-profit for quality dance, theater, and visual arts instruction. In response to the growing demand for more educational opportunities and to meet the growing demand for arts services, TAU is building a new 14,000 square foot Arts Hub in Lafayette. Lori Jones, Executive Director of TAU, is thrilled to finally be moving forward with this facility that has been in the planning stages for the past three years: “This will allow TAU to fulfill its mission to grow a strong arts community by connecting and providing opportunities for diverse populations through a wide-range of engaging arts services.” The new arts center will include a 195-seat theater with lobby, kitchen/concession area and an adjacent outdoor plaza, art gallery hall, art and dance studios, outdoor sculpture gardens, a community garden, and open space for festivals with a covered outdoor performance area bounded by a community canvas backdrop. TAU purchased a 1.4 acre site in March 2015 at 420 Courtney Way in Lafayette near Highway 287 and South Boulder Road. The site is in close proximity to eateries, shops, arts organizations and Imagine!

This project has been made possible through a low interest loan; however, TAU must raise funds for theater and art room equipment and dance room finishing for full function of this amazing new facility. Programming is anticipated to start in the new building in June 2016 while fundraising for these components and future phase elements continues. To support this campaign, TAU is hosting its first annual gala – “Art Rising!” on October 16th, 2015 at Nissi’s in Lafayette, including dinner, entertainment and a live auction.

TAU will continue its presence in Louisville as well as Lafayette through at least Spring of 2017, providing dance, art and gallery programs in Louisville. TAU is currently pursuing a resident status at the Louisville Center for the Arts which will help secure TAU’s continued presence in Louisville.

“Celia is a resourceful little girl who uses ‘magic’ to help her follow rules
and make her days easier. Kids will love her creativity, and parents will love
how Celia has learned ways to make good choices!” ~ Sue Wallingford,
MA, LPC, ATR-BC, Art Therapist and Child Counselor, Professor at
Naropa University

“This book made me feel happy. Celia was trying magic tricks to help her
feel better, and I like that. I like her magic word trick the best.” ~ Evan K.,
age 5

“Celia the Great offers truly helpful tools for kids to use and presents them
in a way that they won’t even realize they are learning them! Patience, deep
breathing, politeness, impulse control, and self-soothing are crucial self-regulation
skills for kids to have and are a great reminder for parents, too!” ~
Harmony Barrett Isaacs, MA, LPC, Parent and family therapist

“What a clever premise for addressing behavioral challenges for children.
Because children make connections through literature, the scenarios in Celia
the Great provide an opportunity for children to learn positive behavior in a
magical way.” ~ Shelley Lawton, Kindergarten teacher
