On Thursday, January 17, the American Diabetes Association Colorado honored a select group of individuals and organizations who through their outstanding dedication and service have personally furthered the mission of the American Diabetes Association. Hosted at Coors Field and emceed by CBS 4 Denver’s Evrod Cassimy, the evening was a wonderful way to recognize the exceptional support of the Stop Diabetes movement in our community.
SHARE Leadership Award:
This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated a significant and ongoing ability to recruit, train and motivate local volunteers by sharing their passion, time, commitment and enthusiasm in a leadership role on a committee, event or board.
Award Recipient: Jim Swayze
ACT Advocacy Award:
This award is presented to an individual volunteer or organization who has demonstrated a significant and ongoing commitment to supporting the American Diabetes Association’s activities to affect public policy to benefit people with diabetes or to protect the rights and livelihoods of those with diabetes.
Award Recipient: Colorado Association of School Nurses
LEARN Outreach Award:
This award recognizes an individual volunteer or organization who has demonstrated a significant and ongoing commitment to those who are affected by diabetes by organizing, conducting, and facilitating Association programs and outreach activities that provide education, raise awareness, and deliver services.
Award Recipient: Julie Olinger
GIVE Fundraising Award:
This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated a significant and ongoing commitment to raising money for research and other mission-driven purposes, either by direct solicitation or by service in a fundraising event.
Award Recipient: Steve Shaffer
Outstanding Community Organization:
This award is presented to a local foundation/club for its exemplary financial support of the American Diabetes Association and its programs.
Award Recipient: Coal Creek Rotary
Outstanding Corporate Partner:
This award is presented to a corporation that epitomizes corporate leadership through its financial and volunteer support of the American Diabetes Association and its activities.
Award Recipient: US Bank
Debut Corporation of the Year:
This award is presented to a corporation that has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to Stop Diabetes in its first year of support of the American Diabetes Association.
Award Recipient: Walmart
Distinguished Media Partner:
This award is presented to a local media organization for its outstanding support of the American Diabetes Association and its mission.
Award Recipient: Denver News
Stop Diabetes Volunteer of the Year:
This award honors an individual whose efforts have made a pervasive impact on the American Diabetes Association and the community in their efforts to STOP DIABETES. This individual has shown his/her support through many facets of ADA’s endeavors, including outreach and fundraising.
