Auditions for "Voice of the Prairie"

Coal Creek Community Theater of Louisville, CO announces auditions for the 3rd show of their 20th season, Voice of the Prairie, by John Olive. Auditions will be held on August 23 and 24 from 7:00 - 10:00pm at the Louisville Arts Center, 801 Grant Ave, Louisville. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Tuesday, August 25th. Please contact the director for an audition appointment. Linda Orr: linda_orr@comcast.net or call 720-379-8157. Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday, with occasional weekends beginning Aug. 26th. Production dates: October 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 30, & 31. Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30; Sundays at 2:00. Actors will be expected to help with set build and strike on Nov. 1. PLEASE COME PREPARED TO NOTE ALL CONFLICTS.

ABOUT THE PLAY:

As this wonderful play opens, an old hobo named Poppy, accompanied by his avid companion, young Davey Quinn, is telling a tall tale. It is the early 1890s and itinerant story tellers like Poppy are the voices of the prairie. Years later, Davey is discovered by a radio pitch man while he is telling stories about Poppy and Frankie, a blind girl he rescued from a cruel father. Quinn becomes famous sending his stories into the “Ethernet” through the infant industry of radio as the Voice of the Prairie. Frankie hears Davey’s stories and reenters his life as the FCC threatens them all for broadcasting without a license.
