Boulder Rotary installs new president, board

Michael Weatherwax accepted the gavel as new president of the Boulder Rotary Club on July 9 from outgoing President Darla Schueth. Rotary District Governor Karen Sekich installed the new officers and members of the club’s board of directors.

Schueth, executive director of HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, had served for the past year as Boulder Rotary president. As a farewell gift the club donated 5,200 doses of polio vaccine in her name to Rotary International’s Polio Eradication campaign, 100 for each week of the year.

Schueth praised the volunteer workers of Boulder Rotary, who lead, participate in and create so many activities to serve the community – including literacy, Crayons to Calculators, the Bolder Boulder, the Buff Bicycle Classic, journaling with students, the Community Food Share project, Share-A-Gift, Preserve Planet Earth, Rotary Youth Exchange, youth services, youth scholarships and more.

"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart,” Schueth said.
Weatherwax, a CPA, had led the club earlier this year in strategic planning, coming up with the mission statement of "Benefiting our community and our world through action, integrity, service and fellowship."  

Other officers and directors for the 2010-2011 year include Schueth, who will serve on the board as past president, and President-Elect Ron Secrist, Secretary-Treasurer Diana Royce Smith, and directors Bill Ahlstrand, Michelle Carpenter, Sue Deans, Frances Draper, Dennis Frohlich, TK Smith, Nancy Stocker and John Sullivan.
