Broomfield High School Students Score Scholarship Hole-in-One

Two of Broomfield High School’s finest students were each awarded $3,200 scholarships from the Broomfield LIONS Club. Ben Maddock and Christopher McClaskey had the winning scores over seventeen students from Broomfield city high schools that pursued this extremely competitive scholarship.

Christopher McClaskey, son of Michael and Carie McClaskey, will be attending the University of Colorado at Boulder. He plans to study Engineering with a concentration in either Computer Science or Areospace Engineering. Christopher is active in football, advanced placement courses and jazz band.

Ben Maddock, son of Gordon and Jan Maddock, will be attending Hillsdale College in Michigan. Ben is planning to study Pre-Medical. Ben is active in basketball, soccer, advanced placement courses and the National Youth Leadership. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.

The scholarships are awarded by the Broomfield LIONS Club from money raised during the Club’s annual golf outing. “We are extremely excited about how the golf outing has been able to assist Broomfield’s brightest students in their pursuit of higher education goals” said Pamela Anderson, president of the Broomfield LIONS Club. Steve Marchi, scholarship awards chairman, said, “Making this selection was really tough. We had so many truly amazing students from which to choose.” This year’s Frank Marchi Scholarship Golf Outing will be held at the Broadlands Golf Course on August 30th.

Through corneal donation, eyeglass recycling, strategic partnerships and vision screenings for the public, the LIONS are illuminating the world for millions of people who are at risk of vision loss. To service those that have already lost – or never had – the ability to see, LIONS provide a range of services from supporting guide dog schools to funding eye research.
