On Friday morning, a passenger van pulled into Adams County Fairgrounds facility. The vehicle interior was stacked full, from the front passenger seat to the rear tailgate, with gifts donated for over 120 foster children of Adam County. The gifts were donated by individuals who did not know the recipients but hoped to brighten their Christmas with an extra gift or two.

Later, the same van arrived at the Broomfield City and County building to present over 110 gift certificates, scarves, lap quilts and other small gifts to Jane Dunavy for distribution to senior citizens in Broomfield. The gift certificates were from the same group of people.

These gifts were part of a gift giving program that has been an annual event for several years. It began with a few gifts to the foster care children and continues to grow every year. Each year, the need seems to grow but the donors' gifts always exceed the requests.

The gifts were donated by members of the Westminster Stake (a stake is similar to a diocese and is comprised of several congregations) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who live in Broomfield and Westminster. The project is under the direction of Stake President Larry Hickman and is conducted for the purpose of providing Christ-like service to those in need.

The project is one of several efforts conducted by churches in the area to help and bless lives.
