Louisville, Colorado – February 28 2011 – Dental Aid, Inc. hired Dennis Lewis, D.D.S. as its new Chief Executive Officer. The Boulder County based not-for-profit provides accessible and affordable oral health care to low-income and uninsured Front Range residents.

Dr. Lewis replaced Karen Cody Carlson who retired at the end of 2010 after almost ten years of serving as Dental Aid’s CEO. Dr. Lewis was Dental Aid’s Director of General Dentistry from 2006 -2010. He has more than 30 years experience in both private and public health dentistry, and is recognized both locally and nationally as an effective advocate for oral health for the underserved. Dr. Lewis has a passion for changing the oral health culture within high-risk communities. “Every person regardless of age, language, culture or income should have access to dental care,” remarked Lewis.

Dr. Lewis obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Northern Colorado before attending the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. Dr. Lewis represents oral health on the Caring for Colorado Board of Directors and on the State Medical Assistance and Services Advisory Council. He is also Chairman of the Evidence Based Dentistry Committee for the National Network for Oral Health Access.

Dental Aid exists so that current and future generations of at-risk populations achieve oral health. Last year, Dental Aid provided more than 8,800 children and adults with affordable, high-quality oral health care – subsidizing the market equivalent of $6.3 million in care for its patients.
