By Brian Robert Spotts

On Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at approximately 10 a.m. Brian Robert Spotts balanced 12 raw, unaltered chicken eggs on the smooth, clean, non-porous, tile floor in the cafeteria of Legacy Elementary School in Frederick, for 1 minute and 6.45 seconds.

The timing of the event was performed by Mr. Brian Bianco, athletics director at Legacy Elementary School, and Mrs. Amy Melany, teacher at Legacy Elementary School, whose measurements were one minute and 6.43 seconds and one minute and 6.46 seconds, respectively.

The event was witnesses by Mr. Sean Corey, principal from St. Vrain Valley School District, and Mrs. Jessica Esinhart, teacher at Legacy Elementary School, along with at least 58 elementary school children who observed from all angles.

At the completion of the event, all eggs remained standing for several minutes (significantly longer than ten seconds).

This is the fifth event where Spotts has attempted to break a world record in eggbalancing. He has been balancing eggs since he was a kid and used to joke about setting a world record one day. Then, one day in college in 2003, he decided to set up an event and go for it. They broke the record for Most Eggs Balanced Simultaneously by a Group, 1290, and were recognized by Guinness World Records. Since then, he has broken world records in eggbalancing three times on three continents. In 2005, he set the record for Most Eggs Balanced Simultaneously by an Individual (439) and Fastest Time to Balance a Dozen Eggs (four minutes and two seconds). He broke both of those records in 2011 in Hong Kong, setting them at 900 eggs and a dozen in one minute 32 seconds. He recently returned from Shanghai where he attempted to break the speed record again, but he was unsuccessful so he decided to break the record at his sons' elementary school.
