FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Boulder, Colorado – August 21 - The Bixby School Board of Trustees announced that John Suitor has been selected as Bixby’s Interim Head of School, culminating a rigorous recruitment process that yielded several highly qualified candidates. The appointment allows Bixby the time needed to pursue a comprehensive search for a permanent Head of School.
John joins Bixby after serving fifteen years as Head of School at Aspen Country Day and prior to that, as Head of Storm King School in New York. He has also worked in politics and served on numerous non-profit boards over the years, bringing to Bixby a wealth of experience in cultivating relationships, fundraising, marketing, and budget analysis—areas critical in sustaining an independent school.
In addition, John has a proven record in increasing enrollment, navigating the accreditation process, and ensuring that staff members are well-supported.
“What struck me, among John’s many other qualifications, was how well he ‘got’ our mission and core values,” commented Lexie Wang, Bixby’s President of the Board of Trustees. “He was quickly able to articulate what is unique and wonderful about our school. We are so fortunate that he has agreed to step in at this crucial time for Bixby.”
In addressing Bixby parents, John said, “I am thrilled to be part of this remarkable community. I have great confidence that we at Bixby believe our task is to provide an education for the kids we have; not the kids we used to have, or wish to have, or the kids that exist in our dreams. It is my hope that we are able to encourage your children to go a step beyond what you or they expect of themselves, and through that process, grow in confidence and joy in learning.”
John began his duties as Interim Head of School on August 10th and is already deeply entrenched in day-to-day activities as well as focused on the pursuit of Bixby’s long term goals.
