Responsible Dog Owner Festival Brings Awareness and Supports Local Dog Rescues

September is AKC Responsible Dog Ownership month, and VIPet Sitter Service and Rocky Mountain Dog Training, local Broomfield pet businesses, are celebrating by holding a community event for all dog lovers and their families that publicly promotes responsible dog ownership and the unique bond we share with our canine companions. Local dog rescue organizations in attendance will benefit from the event, not only in the opportunity for the community to meet with them and adoptable dogs, but also by receiving a portion of the proceeds from the event.

There will be loads of activities for the kids, such as a Dog-theme Bounce House, free face painting and demonstrations on Dog Safety for Kids. The Kids' Corner will have activities for the young dog lover. Those looking to show their neighbors that their dog is an upstanding member of the community, AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluations will be offered during the event.

This is a wonderful opportunity to speak one-on-one with experienced dog trainers, pet sitters, a canine therapeutic massage therapist, pet supply retailers and other related businesses from our area. Fun contests, such as the Best Dressed Dog, Dog and Owner Look-alike, and Best Dog Tricks will offer prizes from area contributors.

The highlight of the fundraiser is the silent auction, featuring items and services from area businesses sure to have something for everyone. A number of giveaways and prizes will be available, and plenty of photo opportunities for the family as the VIPet Sitter Service mascot, "Prince" makes his rounds to greet everyone at the festival. The event will have great music to keep the festive groove going, provided courtesy of Rob Ryan DJ Services.

Create a fabulous Toss-n-Tug toy for your dog out of 100% recycled wool at the Bark for Peace! booth! Free booklets about canine health care, obedience, training and showing dogs, housebreaking, how to find a puppy from a good breeder or rescuer, coloring books, kid/dog safety and much more will be available.

This event was created for our community to enjoy a day with the entire family (including the dog!). Come join us and help us help the rescues in recognition of responsible dog ownership!
