Boulder, Colo. (July 2, 2009) - Social Venture Partners Boulder County (SVP) announces an opening in its Fellowship Program for community-minded individuals working and/or living in Boulder County. The intent is to open SVP's doors to people that couldn't otherwise make the required financial commitment to become an SVP partner and who will add value to and gain personal value from the work within SVP. We especially encourage business professionals, entrepreneurs, non-profit professionals, and community leaders to apply.“SVP is a local philanthropic group committed to building the capacity of non-profit organizations and to serving as a catalyst for individual, engaged philanthropy,” says Jennie Arbogash, Director of SVP. “We are a growing network of 32 philanthropists (called “partners”), each contributing $5,000 annually, that are directly engaged in grant making, strategic volunteering, and philanthropic education.”
SVP Boulder County is a fund of The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County and is a member of Social Venture Partners International, the federation of more than 25 SVP chapters across North America and Japan.
One of the key characteristics of a strong, healthy network of people is to have as diverse a group of partners as possible, who bring a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures into the organization. One new Fellowship will be awarded in August, 2009, and we encourage people of all backgrounds, races, and classes to apply.
Fellows participate fully and are involved in SVP just like any other partner. Participation in SVP includes involvement in a grant committee, participating as a volunteer capacity building consultant to non-profits, and attending partner meetings. We ask for an interim and final report on the Fellow's experiences and recommendations, and expect a minimum average contribution of 7 hours of volunteer time per month. For more information about required qualifications and complete details about the application process, please visit our website at www.svpbouldercounty.org.The deadline for applications is Friday, July 31, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. Please direct any questions not answered on the website to Jennie Arbogash at jennie@svpbouldercounty.org or via phone 303-442-0436, ext. 114.
