The film program at CU seems to be vamping up with the help of a group of business-minded CU students. The Business & Film Club, formed at the start of the semester, is laying the groundwork for students wishing to get a feel of how art and business interact in the modern film era.

From the BFC Facebook page,

The Film & Business Club is aimed at developing the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the film industry upon graduation. This clubs offers many different ways to interact and work with other students who share your interest in the film industry.

It has been a difficult start for the group. They began unfunded, with their first meeting on January 25th, but recently obtained certification for rental equipment next semester through the CU Student Government Finance Board.

While the SGFB funding was well recieved, the group still needs chalk and packaging tape to promote the club, as well as computers, video cameras, tripods, lighting and other equipment. If you're able to help, contact them through their craigslist post.

If you wish to join simply attend the next meeting on March 10th from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM located in KOBL 255. Admission is free. Past meetings have included speakers from Advanced Video Production, representatives from FOX Searchlight Pictures, and tutorials on lighting, editing and more.

And for a taste of the products the club creates check out their monthly 'Movie Night', April 14, 2011 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM in Muenzinger E0046. Here they critique and analyze short films, commercials and documentaries created by members.
