About Me (optional):: I have lived in Boulder County since 1983. I have two daughters and five grandchildren. In 2011 I retired after 30 years working as a computer specialist. I like to read, run, and spend time with my family. I love going to coffee with my friends.

I started the non-profit peopleWeaver. We work with women refugees living in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda. The majority of these women are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Most are widows providing for their families; some are orphans caring for other orphans.

Although our primary focus is microcredit, aid has also included funding for food, schooling, supplies, malaria nets, medicine, communication tools, and two cooperative grain mills. Recently we started a "Free Little Library" at a primary school in the settlement.

At the repeated request of the microcredit women this year, we started pilot adult education classes. We anticipated one class – there are four. We anticipated 40 students - there are 170 students and we stopped enrollment. Class subjects include a speaking knowledge of English, nutrition and health, family management, and business development. Depending on funding these classes are expected to last 1 – 2 years, with a certificate given upon completion.

And - the summer in Colorado has been beautiful!
