Boulder Lodge #9's Junior Past Grand Fred Smith was honored on March 17, 2013 with a dinner in his honor. The dinner took place at the Boulder lodge in downtown Boulder.
Fittingly for the date, the dinner was an Irish feast of corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage. Around 50 members, friends and family attended. After the dinner, a band, consisting of PG Kyle Graham and friends, entertained the attendees.
Fred served as Noble Grand for calendar year 2012. Highlights of his term included service projects such as sorting food for a local food bank and gathering food during a Thanksgiving food drive. The lodge also hosted a number of major events which brought the public into the lodge and introduced them to the IOOF.
According to Fred, his time as Noble Grand was a learning experience, and overall, a positive one. Fred said "I learned more from the rocky times than the food times."
Previous Past Grands were honored at the dinner as well.
