CU students brighten the lives of public housing residents

Students from CU's College of Architecture give back to the community on Saturday at North Port Apartments. North Port is a public housing complex, managed by Boulder Housing Partners. Residents are elderly or people with disabilities who qualify for low income housing assistance and rely on community resources and individuals to supplement and enrich their lives. About 10 Architecture students will be donating their time to paint interior hallways and the community room while fulfilling a service learning initiative. Low income housing does not automatically translate into a poverty of experience. Residents at North Port support one another in living independently and safely together. These CU students will brighten the physical space at North Port and expand their awareness of and understanding of the value of ensuring affordable housing is available to all. For more information on volunteer opportunities, contact Richard Butler, Volunteer Coordinator for Boulder Housing Partners, 720-546-4645.
