Monarch High Student wins State Good Citizen Award from Arapahoe Chapter DAR

The Arapahoe Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has selected Monarch High School senior Divya Kokila Arcot, of Louisville ,
as the 2009-2010 STATE WINNER of the Good Citizen Award and wins $250.00.

Each year the DAR sponsors the contest for local high school seniors to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must
have the qualities of dependability,
service, leadership and patriotism.

Divya also had to write, within a two-hour time limit, and without the assistance of reference materials an essay entitled “Our American Heritage and Our
Responsibility for Preserving It. What is the Greatest Challenge We Face in America
Today?”

Divya's state award now puts her in the running for the

National Good Citizen winner! If she wins she will be awarded a $5,000.00 scholarship!
