Training for Bolder Boulder Kicks Off for Superior Elementary Students

More than 400 K-5th grade students kicked off training for the Bolder Boulder with "Fit Club" at Superior Elementary on Friday, April 15. As part of the program, students run a 1.5 mile loop once or twice (depending on time and speed). Fit Club meets twice a week through mid-May.

Since the school opened in 1996, more than 6,000 students have run more than 24,000 miles as part of Fit Club. In addition, students in Fit Club will run together in a wave at Bolder Boulder at the end of May.

Students turn in weekly fitness logs with the goal of completing at least one hour of aerobic exercise everyday. Prizes are awarded for the most Fit Club minutes. The popular program, in which 65% of the school's population participate, encourages healthy, active lifestyles and fights childhood obesity.
