Louisville Labor Day Parade 2012 - CAR

Continuing our Labor Day tradition, we once again put on our colonial costumes and patriotic colors to march in the annual Louisville Labor Day Parade.  We were joined by the DAR Arapahoe Chapter, the SAR Colorado Color Guard and CAR members from the Folsom and John Delaney Societies.  The air was filled with excitement as we blasted patriotic music and shot the confetti canons.  Also, several new prospective CAR members helped us hand out candy, American flags and CAR information cards to the crowd.

After the parade, everyone gathered at the Coker home for a CAR meeting and BBQ picnic.  We were thrilled to hear from our CAR Colorado State President, Hyatt Vincent.  She presented her state project on Veterans Plaza  project in Fort Collins, Colorado.  In addition to the amphitheater, The Plaza will have a stage and walkway with th rock walls featuring a scrolling touch screen to show the names of the veterans.  A second screen will show their war history and possibly their pictures.  The members of the CAR are encouraged to submit their patriots’ na mes as veterans.  Following the meeting, we all feasted on brisket, pulled pork & chicken, numerous homemade side dishes and pies.  It was a great family experience and fun to hang out with and get to know other CAR members from around the state.
