Southwestern Regional Figure Skating Championship Results

 

The Rocky Mountain Figure Skating Club is proud to announce that five of our figure skaters medaled at the Southwestern Regional Championships, qualifying them to advance to the Midwestern Sectional Championships, November 9-13,in Cleveland, Ohio.  Morgan Bell, Mariah Bell, Anjing Fu, Sebastien Payannet, and Anthony Boucher will all be representing the Rocky Mountain Figure Skating Club at the Midwestern Sectional Championships.  These skaters have worked for one to two years on their programs, working with the Coaching Professionals at the Promenade Ice Arena in Westminster and Technical Specialists to makes sure their programs earn every available point.   The top skaters at the Sectional Championships will advance to compete in the National Figure Skating Championships, which will be held January 20-27th, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mariah Bell won the Junior Ladies first place, Gold medal at the Southwestern Regional Championship.  Mariah scored a total of 154.48 points, that included six triple jumps and a Double Axel-Double Axel combination jump. For the past two years, Mariah has earned an invitation to compete in the National Championships.  Mariah is a current member of the United States Figure Skating’s Team USA, Team C.  She is a Junior at Ralston Valley High School.  She is coached by Cindy Sullivan and Billy Schneider.

Morgan Bell won the Senior Ladies second place, Silver Medal.  Morgan scored a total of 125.43 points, which included five Triple Jumps and two Double Axels.  Morgan has earned an invitation to two previous National Championships.  Morgan is studying at Front Range College.  She is also coached by Cindy Sullivan and Billy Schneider.

                Sebastien Payannet won the Junior Mens third place, Bronze medal.  He scored 123.68 points, that included three Triple jumps and two Double Axels.  He is coached by Cindy Sullivan.

                Anjing Fu won the Junior Ladies Third place, Bronze Medal.  She scored a total of 122.47 points, that included two Double Axels, and three different Triple jumps. Anjing is coached by Cindy Sullivan, Scott Brown, LouAnne Petersen Conant, Erik Schulz, Janet Champion and Christy Krall.  She has been skating for 9 years.  Anjing's favorite part of skating is the sense of accomplishment when she reaches her goals. 

Anthony Boucher won the Novice Men’s Third place, Bronze Medal.  Boucher scored 110.19 points, that included two Double Axels and a Triple Salchow, Double Toeloop Combination Jump.  Anthony is a Sophomore at Faith Christian.  He has been skating since he was 8 years old. .  He is coached by Kelly Renick, Scott Brown, Debbie Minter, Erik Schulz, Janet Champion and Christy Krall.
