On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Mountain View Fire Rescue held a Promotional Badge Ceremony for the promotion of Assistant Chief Keith Long, Engineer Lee Brown, and Engineer Mike Stratton. MVFR also proudly welcomed Battalion Chief Robert Coffey during the ceremony.

“Mountain View Fire Rescue is filled with individuals who are passionate and dedicated to taking care of their community. I’m confident that these four leaders will continue to keep our team and our community safe,” said Fire Chief Mark Lawley.

Assistant Chief Keith A. Long started his career in the 1980’s in Northern California as a volunteer for a small fire district. During this time he took on the Reserve program and started Wildland training. Through the years he has worked as a firefighter, engineer, paramedic, lieutenant, training chief, EMS chief and battalion chief. He joined MVFR in 2013 as a battalion chief.

Keith obtained his associate’ in fire science and bachelor’s in business administration. In 2012, he obtained both chief fire officer and chief medical officer designations. In 2013, he graduated from the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. Currently, he is the primary safety officer on the Rocky Mountain Type 1 Team. He has assisted in 25 states on hurricanes, floods and wildfires.

Keith has been married for 28 years, has three boys and resides in Mead. He enjoys his family time, camping, fishing, hunting and traveling.

Battalion Chief Robert H. Coffey comes to MVFR from the Colorado Springs Fire Department, where he spent nearly 20 years as a firefighter, paramedic and fire officer. He spent 24 years in the U.S. Air Force and Wyoming Air National Guard, where he was a flight medic and retired as a chief master sergeant in 2009.

Robert has earned an associate’s degree in Health Care Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Fort Hayes State University. He has been an emergency medical technician (EMT) since 1986 and a paramedic since 1998.

Robert is married to Kathy and has three children, Alison, Caleb and Steven, two dogs, a cat and about 12,000 bees. He enjoys cycling, gardening, spending time with family and his animals, travel, hunting and fishing.

Engineer Lee Brown is not only a proud Coloradan but is just as proud to be a former Marine in the 1st Marine Division proudly serving under 2/4 Fox company as a helicopter door gunner for four years.

Lee Brown began his career in 1998 when he completed the academy to become a reserve firefighter for Mountain View Fire Rescue and he had always wanted to serve the community he grew up in. In 2004, Lee was hired to be a paid firefighter. Since becoming a firefighter with Mountain View, he has held many different responsibilities, and most recently, he has had the privilege of serving as part of the Tech Rescue Team.

He has been married to his wife, Alyssa, for five years and has three children, Nathan (14), Scott (4) and Miss Maisy (7 months). Lee has always been an avid all around outdoorsman: hunting, camping, fishing are only some of his favorite things to do with the family.

Engineer Mike Stratton, born and raised in Colorado, is proud to be a member of Mountain View Fire Rescue. Mike grew up in Longmont and graduated from Niwot High School. He then attended Fort Lewis College in Durango before relocating to Texas for almost 10 years. Upon moving back to Colorado, he began as a reserve firefighter and attended the volunteer academy in 2002. He also obtained his EMT and IV Certification at this time. He then became a career firefighter in 2004. Since this time he has worked hard at obtaining all necessary certifications for promotion. He is also involved in the radio/pager programming for the department.

He is married to Candice and has three children, Avery, Noah and Parker. Mike has an older brother, Stacy, an older sister, Kim, a twin brother, Matt, and a younger brother, Nick. Mike enjoys camping, travel, spending time with family and friends, and of course attending Bronco games with his brothers.
