Rotary Scholarships seeking applicants

BOULDER – Local Rotary clubs are seeking applicants for three prestigious graduate-level scholarships, for young men and women who want to study abroad in the 2010-2011 school year.

Rotary District 5450, which includes Boulder, offers three scholarships, according to TK Smith of Boulder, representing the Boulder Rotary Club:

• Two academic-year Ambassadorial Scholarships of $25,000 each provide funding for one academic year of study in another country.
• One Temple Buell Ambassadorial Scholarship of $25,000 provides funding for one academic year of study in architecture in another country, including related fields such as urban planning, landscape design and sustainable design.

The awards cover study at an institution assigned by the Rotary Foundation Trustees in one of the 154 countries and 35 geographical regions of the world with Rotary clubs. Included are the cost of round-trip transportation, required academic fees for a normal course load, some educational supplies, reasonable living expenses and limited contingency expenses. During their nine months abroad, Ambassadorial Scholars act as ambassadors of goodwill for Rotary and the United States. Applicants may not be Rotarians, or children or grandchildren of Rotarians; must have completed at least two years of college or the equivalent; and must be recommended by a District 5450 Rotary Club.
