SUMMARY:Fairytale Ballet Camps - Creativity and growth for 5 – 8 yea
 r olds. Whether they are new to dance or have danced for several years
 , this summer program is perfect for boys and girls ages 5-8.
DESCRIPTION:The day will begin with a ballet class suited to your danc
 er’s skill level:\n\nIn Primary 1 & 2, your student will develop mus
 ical awareness, rhythm, and coordination through the fundamentals of b
 allet, creative movement, acting, and games.\nIn Primary 3, students w
 ill continue to build on their knowledge of ballet’s fundamentals an
 d learn more complex movements at the barre and across the floor.\nThe
  second class of the day will be either Musical Theater or Character D
 ance:\n\nIn Musical Theater, the dancers will learn the basics of sing
 ing and acting, while syncing those new skills with complex dance step
 s. They will learn a routine to an excerpt from a kid-friendly, family
 -favorite Broadway musical.\nIn Character Dance, students will learn t
 he basics of balletic folk dancing (plus a little bit of history of bo
 th character dance and ballet). WARNING: This class is so fun, they’
 ll be twirling, toe-heel-cross-heeling, and stamping through the house
  for the next several months.\nThe final class of the day is our famou
 s Fairytale Ballet Class. Students will take a deep dive on a famous c
 lassical fairytale ballet, studying the origins of the story, the hist
 ory, about the choreographer and composer, and about how it came to th
 e stage. They will watch an internationally-acclaimed version of the b
 allet, studying the dancers, costumes, and stagecraft. The teacher wil
 l then work with the students to bring a modified version of the balle
 t to life, culminating with an in-studio performance for families and 
 friends on the final day of the program.\n\nEach camp day will include
  15 minutes for a snack break. Please bring a healthy labeled snack wi
 th your child each day.\n\nFairytale Ballet Camp will run June 29 – 
 July 25, 2020. Classes will either be held at CCD or via Zoom.\n\nTues
 day and Thursday:\n9-10am – Ballet Technique\n10:05-11:05am – Musi
 cal Theater\n11:15-12:15pm – Fairytale Ballet\nCCD is offering 4 wee
