SUMMARY:Film Screening: MY SISTER LIV
DESCRIPTION:On May 15 at 6:00pm, Friends School will be showing a priv
ate screening of \"MY SISTER LIV\". This critically acclaimed film fea
tures sisters Tess and Liv, who from a young age are inseparable, with
what seems to be an unbreakable bond. However, as Liv enters adolesce
nce and struggles with the relentless pressures of social media, depre
ssion, body dysmorphia, and oftentimes thoughts of suicide, her big si
ster Tess struggles to help her. \"My Sister Liv,\" is a rare and rive
ting journey into the life of a young girl and her loved ones. As Tess
and her family learn to cope after unthinkable loss, they begin the h
eartbreaking journey to understand the circumstances that led to Liv's
death, and learn from experts that give real solutions and hope.\nFil
mmakers worked with Susan Caso, MA LPC, The Liv Project’s Mental Hea
lth Director, and a team of therapists to craft the story. In addition
, the film was vetted by team members at the Children's Hospital Color
ado Pediatric Mental Health Institute to ensure the content was accura
te and safe, and in no way glorified this issue.\nThe film has been ap
proved for youth ages 14 and up. This film was the official selection
at this year's Boulder International Film Festival.\nThe film will be
followed by a Q&A with Susan Caso, MA LPC, The Liv project's Mental He
alth Director and advisor on the film. The filmmaker and her mother wi
ll also be Zooming in to answer any questions. Due to the sensitive su
bject matter involving suicide and mental health issues, this film is
intended for parents, caregivers and children over age 14 only who are
accompanied by a parent.\nThis event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
