Since 1998, the Women's Wilderness Institute has offered wilderness experiences for women and teen girls in the Rocky Mountains and the deserts of the Southwest. Whether you're seeking a rejuvenating week of backpacking, the skills to build your own top-rope anchor, or the determination to make a major change in your life, we hope you'll join us for an unforgettable experience that will increase your wilderness skills, refresh your spirit, and bring you the joy of a wilderness adventure in the company of women.Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs and learning styles of women and girls while providing solid instruction in wilderness living, outdoor skills and backcountry safety. Learn basic canoeing strokes, what to bring on a river trip, and how to pack your gear in the canoe. We’ll also cover principles of reading water, Leave No Trace ethics for river travel, river safety, and specific tips for camping in a water environment. This clinic is great preparation for the Institute’s upcoming Green River Yoga course Sept. 10-14 and Writing from the River’s Edge with Page Lambert, Sept. 24-28.
