A few of us have committed to what may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We will be going well out of our comfort zone to help spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Speaking for myself, this has rarely been presented before me. Typically, I either don't have time, i.e. vacation time I can schedule, or I don't recognize the funding to get there.

As we've heard in our services: "When you know who you are, you will know what to do."

This discussion, in my view, is designed as an electronic Bible study where participants can share thoughts, stay in touch and spiritually and emotionally build toward our mission field experience.

Be as active as you wish. I will try to post new scriptures and thoughts at least three times weekly.

The call should never be so real, so evident as when we're making our way through Easter weekend. We need to remember that Easter is more than honey-glazed ham, fresh sugar cookies and a big family gathering. The wine we should consider is not the cabarnet from France but the blood spilled from the Blameless One, the only time in the Bible when wine is not referred to as deception. It is, during Jesus' last supper, part of the atonement.

Like Mel Gibson or not, consider him a christian or just an opportunist, regardless of your view of the man, consider "The Passion of the Christ," how overwhelmed he was in the Garden, so overwhelmed he asked his father and our Heavenly Father for the cup to pass by him. But even in his turmoil, possibly the human and Godly in a point of conflict because of what lie ahead, yet he did not waver from what he knew his father needed him to do. The question we need to ask ourselves: How can we do any less?

Can you imagine a society so bent on control, on quenching true holiness that even after the guard was healed in the garden following Peter cutting off his ear, still Jesus was taken into custody. I wonder what it did to the guard's heart? The man he was given orders to arrest and likely abuse as they choose decided to heal him. More than likely it completely turned his world view, gave him reason to look beyond what he thought he knew. The touch of God, later with Simon of Cyrene the glimpse into the eyes of God, how can they not change a person?

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrow: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

"Destroy this temple and in three days I will rebuild it. (John 2:19)" Doesn't it seem Jesus is already pointing out that nothing happens unless He OKs it? If he has power to rebuild it, he has power to stop its destruction. Yet, because it was his father's will, he didn't stop it.

Easter needs to have a solemn and holy meaning, or else how can we call ourselves followers of Jesus.
