Backstory Youth Theatre in Broomfield, Colorado, proudly presents Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch, a comedic musical in two acts. Written by Ron and Bret Carter, and directed by Backstory Theatre’s Artistic Director, Anna Marie Wilcox, the story follows a group of ranch hands in 1889 in the town of Two Pigs, Idaho. The men are willing to do just about anything to make the next cattle drive a success. They might have to take a dangerous trail. They might have to face a gang of rustlers. And worst of all, they might even have to sing to the cattle. Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch is an original musical that has only been produced one other time.
This is the second show for Backstory Youth Theatre. Last fall, the Youth Theatre produced its premier show, Bird Brains. The Youth Theatre is one of three arms for Backstory Theatre, a Colorado non-profit. There is an active Theatre Academy for students 20 months old through adults and a Theatre Company in Broomfield as well. BackStory Theatre Academy classes are listed in the Broomfield Rec Services catalogue.
Students that are performing in Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch auditioned in July to be cast. Many of them have participated in the Theatre Academy. The 40 cast members include youths from the northern metro area, ranging in age from eight years old to seventeen years old.
The musical will be performed on Friday, November 16 at 7:00pm; Saturday, November 17 at 2:00pm; and Saturday, November 17 at 7:00pm; at the Broomfield Auditorium, 3 Community Park Road, Broomfield, Colorado.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, and $5 for children 10 and under. Tickets may be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com or may be purchased at the door.
