Compact-Fluorescent light bulbs CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!!!

Read: Mercury leaks found as new bulbs break (The Boston Globe):

"... immediately after the bulb was broken--and sometimes even after a cleanup was attempted--levels of mercury vapor exceeded federal guidelines for chronic exposure by as much as 100 times. There is no federal guideline for acute exposure."

this is true, there is mercury in these bulbs, but they are not dangerous, after further investigation you'll find multiple websites disclaiming this myth, here is a couple of many... http://www.eartheasy.com/live_energyeff_lighting.htm http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/06/what_about_merc.php
The mercury actually is very dangerous--though properly cleaning-up a broken bulb negates the danger...

People need to be warned against bending down to sweep-up the dust from a broken bulb (use a damp rag)--and then there's the issue of such dust falling into a carpet...

Who wants their kid rolling around in dangerous mercury dust, while a vacuum cleaner will only spread the mercury around.
