Real Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center Shares Christian Ideals of Respect Life

At the Peaceful Respect Life Prayer Vigil on August 25 near Denver, Archbishop Charles Chaput said, “Society has an obligation - and Christians have a Gospel duty -- to provide adequate and compassionate support for unwed and abandoned mothers; women facing unintended pregnancies; and women struggling with the aftermath of an abortion. It's not enough to talk about ‘prolife politics.’ The label ‘prolife’ demands that we work to ensure social policies that will protect young women and families, and help them generously in their need. ..” How blessed Boulder County is to have a hands-on, Christian pregnancy care center, Real Choices, that strives to do just that.
On the front page of their newsletter, Real Choices boldly proclaims their vision: “To promote the Truth and Love of Jesus Christ by delivering Real Choices to educate, enrich, and ultimately save lives.” Their mission? “To minister and provide Real Choices before, during and after unexpected pregnancies.” Glancing through their latest newsletter, it’s easy to get a sense of what exactly that means. They offer one-on-one mentoring during pregnancy, adoption resources and support, maternity and baby clothes, baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, shampoo, food and formula, car seats, and much more. Letters from clients are so moving-they thank Real Choices for their counseling, for the material help they provided, but most notably, for their kindness and compassion. The mothers, pictured with their newborns, are radiant.
Real Choices remembers Dads, too-they’ve recently started a special program to teach fathers the importance of being a dad, and to provide their client fathers with the skills to become active, supportive members in their children’s lives. When the unthinkable happens, as we know it happens every day, Real Choices is still there, to help pick up the pieces. They have a Post-Abortion Support group to minister to those who suffer from their experience. The love and grace of God is key to this ministry. To prevent unplanned pregnancies from happening, and the heartache that follows, Real Choices has an Abstinence Education program. Director Brad Seng says that so far in 2008, he has been able to reach over 700 students with the healthy message of abstinence in Boulder Valley schools and churches.
With all these wonderful ministries available throughout Boulder County, Real Choices does need help from the community. They can always use donations of useful things like diapers, new baby clothes, bus tickets & tokens, plastic laundry baskets, pre-paid phone cards and pregnancy/childbirth books. They also have their biggest fundraiser of the year tonight, and wanted to invite everyone to join in their good work. “Seasons of Life, Rooted in Love”, Real Choices Pregnancy Care Center’s Annual Banquet, is set for tonight, (Thursday evening, October 16), at 6 pm. Real Choices is thrilled to have KHOW radio personality, attorney, and friend of life, Dan Caplis, as the guest speaker. Google Dan Caplis and Respect Life, and you’ll get evidence of years of dedication and hard work. His strong faith and tireless work for the sanctity of life is a perfect match with the mission of Real Choices. Why are people of good will encouraged to attend this fundraising banquet? Real Choices Volunteer Coordinator Mikki MacKenzie says, “This is a tangible way to show your support for life. We’re on the front lines here at Real Choices, meeting and greeting women with unexpected pregnancy every day, and we are able to help them make a choice for life. We do not receive any government funding, so we are totally dependent on donations from the community and churches”. She goes on to explain that by supporting Real Choices, “You are helping us to be the hands and feet and face of Christ for women coming through our doors.”
Call Real Choices at 303 665-2341 for tickets to “Seasons of Life, Rooted in Love”, Real Choices Pregnancy Care Center’s Annual Banquet, tonight (Thursday, October 16), at 6 pm. Tickets are $45 per person.
