Emily Crawford a 2003 graduate of New Vista High School and BFA candidate in the Dance Department at the University of Colorado will present a modern dance concert "I Don't Get it...." with fellow BFA students Victoria Spangler and Michael Richman October 24, 25 and 26th at the Irey Dance Theatre on the CU campus.

Emily has lived her entire life in Boulder County. She attended Alaya Preschool, Columbine Elementary School, Casey Middle School and New Vista High School and spent four summers at camp Tahose with the Colorado Youth Program. Emily is currently sudying dance and choreography a the University of Colorado, Boulder and will graduate in May of 2009. She is an active member of the CU Student Dance Alliance and teaches children's dance classes at Airborne Gymnastics and Dance in Longmont.

In the summer of 2006 Emily traveled to in the village of Kokrobite in Ghana, West Africa with Master Drummer Maputo Mensa where she studied African dance, music and culture at the African Academy of Music and Art . In the summer of 2007 she returned to Accra the capital city of Ghana, with Nii Armah Sowah adjunct faculity of African music and dance at CU . She traveled with Nii Armah and several other students to central and northern Ghana to dance with local youth groups and experience Ghanian culture through music and dance.

Emily's parents Annette and Tim Crawford will host a reception for the BFA students following the performance on Saturday, October 25th. Family and friends are invited to attend. For information about the concert please go to www.colorado.edu/theatredance
