HOLIDAY FESTIVAL OF TREES READIES FOR 3RD ANNUAL FUND RAISER

Meals on Wheels of Boulder and the Boulder Flatirons Rotary Club are partnering for the third year to host A Holiday Festival of Trees, a fundraiser benefiting programs sponsored by the two organizations. The third annual festival will be Sunday, December 7, 2008, from noon – 3 p.m. in the Stadium Club at Folsom Field on the CU-Boulder campus.
In addition to the display and raffle of more than 50 donated holiday trees decorated with items of value, a silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind items of value, such as a tanzanite and white gold pendant with diamond accents being donated this year by Hurdles Jewelry and a closet make-over from Closet & Storage Concepts.
Favorite trees last year included two shoe trees, one hung with shoes from Pedestrian Shops and the other covered with Crocs; several money trees; a golfing tree with over $1,000 worth of lessons, foursomes and more; spa trees with massages, facials, pedicures and spa products; and trees laden with gift certificates to restaurants and bars in Boulder – all of which are returning this year. Tree donors determine the theme and items used to adorn their trees. Trees will be available for viewing beginning at noon and winners will be drawn beginning at 2:30 p.m. New this year is the requirement that one must be present to win. Also new this year: tree winners will have the option to return the tree to the donor (minus the items of value of course) for reuse in 2009. As one tree donor said, “I’ll use the money to add items to the tree rather than buying a new tree every year!”
For the third year, entertainment will be provided by The Madrigal Singers from Fairview High School.
General admission to the event will be $50, which includes the tree raffle and silent auction, five $2 raffle tickets, a holiday brunch buffet, entertainment, and parking. Tickets are available at www.mowboulder.org (just click on the tree), at the event or by calling 303-441-3907. Advance ticket sales will close on Tuesday, November 25th but will be available at the door on the day of the event.
To donate a tree or silent auction item, call 303-441-3907 or email trees@mowboulder.org. Guests are urged to bring sheets of personalized promotional mailing labels (the kind that show up unasked-for in the mail) for use on the raffle tickets.
Meals on Wheels of Boulder was created in 1969 and is a locally administered and funded not-for-profit organization serving residents of Boulder. Event proceeds will help the organization deliver meals to its elderly and disabled clients in Boulder.
The Rotary Club of Boulder Flatirons was chartered in 1997 and currently has 35 members. Proceeds from this event support programs for at-risk youth in Boulder.
