10/08 Boulder Creek Watershed Forum: Vehicle Emissions – Pollutants, Challenges, and Alternatives

Vehicle Emissions – Pollutants, Challenges, and Alternatives
October 2008 Boulder Creek Watershed Forum

Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Boulder Public Library, Main Auditorium
7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Refreshments in Gallery from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Our vehicles are mobile sources of green house gases (GHG) and emitters of pollutants that contaminate our air and our drinking water supplies. Although we have made significant progress in reducing emissions from individual vehicles, the number of vehicles on our roads and the number of vehicle miles traveled continue to increase, putting growing pressure on our environment. Come join our panel of distinguished speakers – Donald H. Stedman, Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Denver; Andrew Bascue, ClimateSmart Transportation Coordinator, City of Boulder; and Randall Rutsch, Senior Transportation Planner, City of Boulder – who will be discussing measurement of vehicle emissions, the regional impacts of mobile source emissions, and alternatives to single occupant vehicles.

The monthly Boulder Creek Watershed Forum series is sponsored by the Boulder Creek Watershed Initiative, the U.S. Geological Survey, City of Boulder, and the Boulder Public Library Foundation. Refreshments are provided in the Library’s Canyon Gallery courtesy of Moe's Broadway Bagels, Cafe Sole, and Breadworks. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. For additional information, contact Paul Hempel at (303) 437-1746.
