Brownie Troop 2789 Collects And Donates Hundreds of Stuffed Animals

SUPERIOR, CO. – Oct. 27, 2008 - Members of Superior Elementary School 2nd Grade Brownie Troop #2789 recently collected and tagged 430 stuffed animals for the Teddy Bear Project, a service of the Child Rescue Foundation providing stuffed animals to children in crisis.Brownie Troop 2789 members collected the animals in September as a community service project that would serve others, which is part of the Girl Scout mission. The troop placed a box at its school, Superior Elementary, and encouraged everyone to donate stuffed toys of every type and size.Generous donations from the school enabled the troop to collect more than 400 stuffed animals. On Oct. 7, the troop spent several hours counting, sorting, fluffing and tagging the animals for distribution as symbols of unconditional love to those affected by violence.Troop members include Colleen Chen, Sophie Kelley, Bailey Shogrin, Serene Villars, Torey Zrubeck, Carly Peterson, Audra Jones, Kaitlyn Plutt, Nyree Christianian, Fiona McDonnell and Kathryn Stone.
