Crescat Capital Formed, Uniting Two Firms with a Disciplined Investment Process

Crescat Capital LLC is the new name for two established money management firms in the Denver area. The combination of Smith Portfolio Management LLC, founded in 1999, and Crescat Partners LLC, founded in 2005, took place in February and the firm is moving offices from Golden to downtown Denver.

Kevin Smith, Founder of Smith Portfolio Management and Co-Founder of Crescat Partners, will be Chief Investment Officer of the combined entity. The other principals are Boulder resident Daniel Hoskins and Claiborne Booker. All three are classmates from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Crescat Capital currently manages approximately $70 million in assets.

Commenting on the combination, Kevin Smith said, “This is a great opportunity for us to build for the future and devote more resources to producing superior investment results and enhanced client service. We look forward to growing in Denver.”
