The Legacy Shockers 13u Division I baseball team placed 4th overall this past week in the Triple Crown National Omaha SlumpBuster Tournament held in Omaha, Nebraska. The SlumpBuster tournament was billed as one of the largest competitive baseball tournaments in the country, and there were 41 of the top teams in the country competing this year. The Shockers began the tournament by defeating the Arizona Big Dawgs 5-3, and then fell to the Illinois Sparks Americans 5-9 ending pool play. At the end of pool play the Shockers were the 27th seed and were paired up with the #6 seed, the San Diego Titans, who they defeated by a score of 4-1 to reach the championship round. In the first game of the championship round the Shockers faced the #11 seed, the Colorado Springs Shockers, and defeated them by a score of 5-3 to move on to the quarter finals. In the quarter finals game the Shockers faced the Oklahoma Travelers. The Oklahoma Travelers finished second in last year’s Omaha SlumpBuster tournament and were looking to reach the championship once again this year. In one of the Shockers’ best games of the season, the Shockers defeated the Oklahoma Travelers by a score of 4-3. The Shockers fell to the Texas Stampede in the semi-final game by a score of 14-0, but we are very proud of the effort put forth by these fine young men and the way they represented our community and the state of Colorado. The Shockers have qualified for the Triple Crown World Series held in Steamboat Springs Colorado July 21st through July 27th and look forward to the opportunity to represent our community and the state of Colorado once again on a national level.
