Rotarians serve humanity around the corner and around the globe. The Rotary Club of Boulder Valley has a proud tradition of significant contributions to Rotary World Community Service programs, including development projects and international youth and professional exchanges.
Recently completed projects include:
* A microcredit project in Chimahenango, Guatemala, sponsored by the Westminster 7:10 Rotary Club.
* A water project in India sponsored by the Parker Rotary Club.
* A health care worker training project in Mante, Mexico, sponsored by the Flatiron Rotary Club.
* Water for Schools project in Uganda and Kenya sponsored by the Arvada Sunrise Rotary Club.
Projects in progress include:
* A matching grant application has been submitted to send $350,000 worth of used medical equipment to a hospital in rural Uganda.
* Working with Engineers Without Borders, we plan to help in the development of a water project for a village in Togo.*
Working with Namlo International, we plan to help in the development of a water project for Barrio Nuevo, Nicaragua, where we funded the construction of a school building a few years ago.
* We are defining a scholarship to train nurses through the Nurses for Africa program operated by the Global Alliance for Africa.
International exchanges include:
* Yearlong international exchange student from Brazil in 2007-2008 and from Hungary in 2008-2009.
* Two high school students on a 10-day exchange to/from Yamagata, Japan. The Yamagata North Rotary Club is a sister Rotary club.
* Group study exchange team from Mexico in 2007 and South Africa in 2008.
