The team name is hysterical, the Colorado Crash Test Dummies, made their debut appearance at one of the Nation's largest inline hockey tournaments in California last week. NARCh (North American Roller Hockey Championships) hosted 435 teams from across the United States and Canada and the 10U and 12U Colorado Crash Test Dummies teams were invited to attend. The 12U division had 18 teams one of which was the Crash Dummies, who finished strong with the bronze medal win, and the 10U Crash Dummmies, one of the youngest in the division, finished strong 4th place out of 17 teams."The best part of the whole tournament was listening to parents yell, 'go Dummmies' in a fun and friendly manner...when people would yell it, you'd hear chuckles from the other team" said parent Ben Martinez. The Colorado Crash Test Dummies received a #1 vote for best jersey's from all 435 teams, with the Crash Test Dummy amongst shattered glass and "Test in Progress" and tire tracks across the shoulder. The team was "thrown" together from a mix of other teams and they crashed tested their way to recognition at a National Tournament. (www.narch.com) "It was fun to hear even the players say, 'we got beat by some dummmies', they enjoyed the sense of humor behind all of this", said Anne Hanson.Coaches Jeff Hanson and Wayne Hemzacek are very excited to see the power behind these two teams and hopes that they continue to enjoy the sport they love. Coach Jeff Hanson said, "I was proud of how hard they worked and what a team effort they put forth to win a National tournament."Colorado should be proud of these teams, and especially our 12's who managed to finish strong with a bronze medal.Inline hockey doesn't always get the recognition it deserves, but it has a strong following of players who also play ice...a great alternative when the ice season ends.GO DUMMIES!!
