Lafayette Rocketeer Places Third in National Competition

Eleven-year-old Lafayette resident, Ryan Anthony-Ceres placed third in "A" Division at the 50th National Association of Rocketry’s (NAR) annual meet, in Manasas, Virginia. "A" Division is for rocket enthusiasts from seven- to -thirteen years old. Eight weighted events composed the championships held over a five-day period.

Ryan was awarded first place for his research and development report, “Streamer Duration Materials Tests”. He also placed third in Set Duration with a time only seven seconds off the mark. In Streamer Duration, Ryan set a new single flight A-Division national record with a duration time of 186 seconds. These results boosted Anthony-Ceres to third place with 4224 Meet Championship points.

In addition to the national championships, the young rocketeer competed in four regional competition events throughout the year in New Mexico and Colorado, obtaining third place nationally with a total of 11328 points. Ryan is a sixth-grader at Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette. Additional information about the NAR may be found at NAR.ORG.
