Attention Homes Receives Funds from Glory of Christmas Concerts

Attention Homes receives $10,000 from Glory of Christmas fundraising Concerts.
Attention Homes has a great relationship and receives support from many organizations throughout Boulder Valley and Colorado.  One recent show of confidence and support for their local mission to provide life changing resources to youth in crisis, came from First Presbyterian Church, Boulder.  Last week, Claire Clurman, Executive Director, received a check for $10,000 from the fellow non-profit organization. This money was generated from a specific fundraising effort by the Chancel Choir Council in December 2016.  Every year the Music Department orchestrates a 3-concert event in December with the specific goal of raising money to support a non-profit organization that helps the marginalized of society. Sometimes the focus is global or national, but this year it was local and in Boulder's own backyard. "We support the work of Attention Homes and their goal to reach the at-risk youth in our community. We need to demonstrate our love and attention to these youth in tangible ways. And that's what Attention Homes is all about," says Robin Dean, from Music & Worship at First Pres. The selection process for determining the organization that will benefit from the concerts is selective.  Organizations must apply for the funds, stating their need along with who will benefit and how the organizations is helping the community. The Chancel Choir Council ultimately decides who will be the beneficiary and Attention Homes was chosen from the 14 applications received. This year they zoned in on Attention Homes partly due to the number of youth that would be reached by their efforts, and the practical help and demonstrated impact that Attention Homes has made in their 50 year history in Boulder County. "We're grateful for the funds and support of our neighbors here in Boulder." says Attention Homes.
The Glory of Christmas concerts, are an annual event at First Pres and have been going on for about 35 years. Every year we choose to gift all proceeds to a non-profit organization in order to bless and multiply the work that they do." professes Jim Keller, Director of Music & Worship at First Pres. We were happy to be able to support Attention Homes with this generous check. The concerts charge a nominal fee of $10/person for adults, $5/youth. It is enjoyed by all ages and presents a variety of genres including choral music accompanied by the Boulder Symphony, a high school choir and a worship band.
