Ball Corporation Awards Scholarship to Fairview High School Graduate

BROOMFIELD, Colo., June 26, 2009—William Berdanier, a 2009 graduate of Fairview High School in Boulder, Colo., is one of seven students globally who have been awarded the 2009 John W. Fisher Scholarship from Ball Corporation [NYSE:BLL].

Berdanier, son of Barry and Pamela Berdanier of Lafayette, Colo., plans to study physics at the University of Texas, Austin. He maintained a 4.784 grade point average at Fairview High and ranked 13 out of 486 students in his class. He is a National Merit Commended Student, an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate, AP Scholar with Distinction and an Eagle Scout.

Barry Berdanier is a principal engineer at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. in Boulder.

Ball Corporation established the John W. Fisher Scholarship in 1982 to provide educational assistance to children of Ball employees. The scholarship is awarded for academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities. John W. Fisher is honorary director and chairman emeritus of Ball’s board of directors.

Each student receives $3,000 per year to be used at an accredited institution for a maximum of four years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first.

Other recipients of the scholarship include Jake Chambers, Rugby, U.K.; Anna DiPoto, Neenah, Wis.; Thomas Hatzilabrou, St. Charles, Ill., and Clark Ricks, Jr., Yorktown, Va.; Nelly Slenczka, Braunschweig, Germany; and Katarzyna Wlazlak, Radomsko, Poland.
