The nine year old Broomfield Blitz Youth Football (www.broomfieldfootball) team displayed to the region this season why the level Bltiz footballis truly a cut above the rest. By finishing an undefeated season and rolling into the championship game trouncing the Brighton Bulldogs 48-0.The Broomfield Blitz team coached by Broomfield High School product, Larry Smith has such a dominating defense that did not give up a point scored all season.The game was lopsided from the get go when Broomfield kicked off, the ball bounced off the Brighton defender and Broomfield recovered the ball. Blitz went on to march down the field and score on their first posesion. From there, the rout was on.Brighton fought hard and drove a couple times down the field only to be stopped by Blitz defense. Mason Keeler intercepted in the end zone, the only real Brighton threat of scoring, and returned the ball 62 yards for a touchdown.(60 yard field)Coach Smith commented "It was a great day for the entire team and our first year in the new northern league. Our boys played hard and showed what championship football is all about. We play a different brand of football in the Blitz program"The Broomfield Blitz Youth Football League ( www.broomfieldfootball.com) placed four teams Coal Creek Midget Football League (CCMFL)Championships and three more in the 3rd/4th place consolation game. TheCCMFL is currently comprised 124 teamsfrom 9 chapters including Brighton, Broomfield, Commerce City, Erie, CarbonValley, Hyland Hills, Lafayette, Lousiville, Northglenn, and Superior. Championshipand 3rd/4th place games are played at each age group from 7 years of age to 13 years of age. The Blitz have a total 13 teams across the 7 age groups.
