Alexander Dawson School senior Hunter Chase (Westminster) is the school’s National Merit finalist based initially on the score of his 2008 PSAT, and continued academic growth and achievements.

He represents approximately 15,000 finalists nationwide based on academic record, information about the school's curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, school official's written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and the finalist's respective essays.

The nationwide pool of National Merit Semifinalists named this fall represented less than one percent of United States high school seniors, including the highest scoring PSAT entrants in each state. That pool has been narrowed down to approximately 15,000 nationwide finalists of which 8,200 will receive one of three different awards, including a National Merit grant of $2,500.

Scholarship recipients will be announced from April-July.
