Emergency Management Gets a failing Grade!

Broomfield County, Ken A. Davies(Emergency Manager for the City and County of Broomfield) stated in the Denver Post on Tuesday June 17 that most warning systems are are ineffective for Tornado. Well, I beg to differ with this statement.
Our county just spend $500,000.00 to build a wall around the jail to prevent prisons from escaping, a little oversight when the building was first constructed, and now that citizens lifes are on the line, Ken Davies tells us the solution is not sirens but a electronic system.
Well, let's take a good hard look at what occur last week, a tornado was located just south east of Front Range Trailer Park and many citizens ran to get their carmera or just stand outside to watch, silly as it may sound this clearly shows a lack of education in our community.
What we believe, or how concern we are about our family safety is the bottom line for our Emerency Management Team.
A warning sirens has been used in our country for the past 100 years or so, with all the improvement and updates this system continues to save lives. My past experinces with tornados in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas, so fore are the real reasons for my response.
These pass few days as storms have come and gone, many people in the parks(having a picnic) or at ball parks have failed to notice that a Tornado Warning was issues for our community. Do we believe that a electronic alert system would of helped in these cases, your quess is as good as mine, but remember what occur in Fort Collins and Aurora this past week.(System failure)
The only thing I ask our Emergency Management Team and leadership is to work with surrounding community and our local school district to provide the best and safest systems for our citizens and visiting sports team. Is this to much to request, Tornado siren do work!
