Fairview High School won the Colorado State University Math Day team competition for the third consecutive year. The annual event, which was held on Thursday, November 5, 2009, attracted over 300 students from around the state.

In the individual PROBE competition, Fairview High School placed four students in the top five: Charles Xu (first place), Ben Alpert (second place), Eric Eisenberg (third place), and Chris Guthrie (fifth place). As winner of the competition, Charles Xu won a Hewlett-Packard workstation. All four students were awarded scholarships ranging from $4000 to $6500.

Other Fairview High School participants included Alexander Atallah, Ryan Atallah, Alex Black, Alex Cai, Catherine Chen, Cissy Chen, Kyle Christensen, Will Conway, Nicolas Ledru, Howe Qiu, Ved Topkar, and Henry Zhang.
