Fairview High School Wins CSU Math Day Competition for Fourth Straight Year

Fairview High School won the CSU Math Day team competition for the fourth consecutive year.  The annual event, which was held on Thursday, November 4, 2010, attracted over 300 high school students from around the state.  The top three teams were all from Fairview High School.  Members of the winning team were Alex Black, Chris Guthrie, and Nicolas Ledru.


In the individual PROBE competition, Fairview High School placed six students among the top ten winners:  Chris Guthrie (first place), Albert Soh (second place), Ben Alpert (fourth place tie), Charles Xu (fourth place tie), Henry Zhang (seventh place), and Riley Xu (ninth place tie).  As winner of the competition, Chris Guthrie won a Hewlett-Packard workstation.  All six students were awarded scholarships ranging from $3000 to $6500.


Other Fairview High School participants included Alex Cai, Cissy Chen, Kyle Christensen, Will Conway, Lizzy Dresselhaus, Eric Eisenberg, Karun Kumar Rao, Howe Qiu, Ved Topkar, and Larry Zhang.
