Free landscaping seminars offer top water-efficiency tips

With about 25 people in attendance, Northern Water’s irrigation management team kicked off its landscaping and watering how-to seminar series June 1. Ron Boyd, landscape management specialist, and Chad Kuhnel, landscape water management and conservation specialist, led the first session on how to fix, maintain and save water and money on home irrigation systems.

With live demonstrations and a miniature sprinkler system set-up, Boyd and Kuhnel passed along advice to participants, reiterating that anyone can do these types of fixes. The irrigation management team provided handouts with tips, tools for an irrigation tool box, a quick install guide and more. Guests got their questions answered and entered into a drawing to win a free all-weather rain gauge.

This was the first seminar in a seven-session series. The next seminars will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m.  June 22, where Northern Water staff will discuss cost effective water conservation. For more information on the series, which is at 220 Water Ave. in Berthoud, visit www.northernwater.org.
