Healthcare Access in Boulder County

The Boulder County Movement for Children, a project of the YWCA Public Policy Committee, is hosting the 15th annual Legislative Forum on Thursday, December 11th, to discuss the health issues facing youth and solutions that can make a difference. The forum will be from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Lafayette Public Library, 775 West Baseline Road in Lafayette. Refreshments will be available at 6:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The forum brings together Boulder County state legislators, county experts and citizens to discuss the health and access to health care concerns for children in Boulder County. Brief presentations from Jordana Ash, Team Leader at the Mental Health Center Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties, Robin Bohannan, Director of Community Services at Boulder County; Karen Cody Carlson, Executive Director of Dental Aid; and Pete Leibig, President and CEO of Clinca Family Health Services will start the forum. Janet Beardsley, Executive Director of the YWCA of Boulder County, will moderate the discussion. All Boulder County state legislators have been invited to participate and there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
In addition, the 2008 Status of Children Report, produced annually by the Boulder County Movement for Children, will be available that evening. Researched and authored by Stephanie Greenberg, research consultant, with funding from Boulder County Community Services Department, Boulder County Public Health, and City of Boulder Children, Youth, and Families Division, the report sheds light on issues ranging from health and childcare services to safety and educational performance.
