Please join Historic Boulder Thursday, September 27, 5:30-8:00 p.m. as we enjoy champagne on the mezzanine of the Historic Hotel Boulderado, relish in fabulous hors d'oeuvres while bidding on spectacular travels in our silent auction.  Swing dancers will entertain us while we honor this year's preservation award winners as we celebrate the forty years of preserving  Boulder's architectural heritage through advocacy alliance building and education.  Items to be auctioned include: a weekend cottage at Chautauqua, 18 holes of golf, original art by Sally Scott, Debbie Springer and other well-known local artists, walking tour tickets, antiques, fine china & linens and sterling to name a few.

Historic Boulder traditionally recognizes organizations and individuals who have made contributions in protecting Boulder’s irreplaceable historic buildings and this year is no exception as the 2012 Preservation Award Winners will be honored.  The awards that will be presented are Preservationist of the Year, The Stewardship Award, Volunteer of the Year, and Outstanding Preservation Project.  “We are privileged to work with many talented and generous, preservation-minded advocates who share a passion for our mission.  We are pleased to honor and recognize many outstanding stewards of our community as we celebrate the past 40 years of preservation work in Boulder,” said Abby Daniels, Executive Director of Historic Boulder, Inc.

In its 40th anniversary year, Historic Boulder would like to celebrate these successes and give thanks to all of its preservation partners and everyone in the community who has volunteered for, participated in, and supported these activities over the years.

Since 1972, Historic Boulder has helped to save historic resources throughout the county, held hands-on renovation workshops, assisted in or written grants for special restoration projects, hosted walking tours, house tours, and salon series, developed educational materials for school children, hosted popular events to educate and celebrate our area’s cultural, architectural and environmental heritage. A few of Historic Boulder’s proudest accomplishments are the Boulder Theater, Union-Pacific Depot, Hotel Boulderado, Columbia Cemetery, Highland School,  Arnett- Fullen House, Mt. St. Gertrude-The Academy, and our current rehabilitation project- The Hannah Barker House (www.hannahbarkerhouse.org.)

While Historic Boulder’s early efforts were primarily focused on saving historic resources, its mission is also to “educate, advocate and build alliances” and to “assist and encourage study of the Boulder area’s early way of life.

Tickets $40 person. For tickets, or more  information please visit www.historicboulder.org or call 303.444.5192.
