This year’s Holiday Festival of Trees, benefiting Meals on Wheels of Boulder, is presented by WhiteWave Foods of Broomfield, “a perfect fit” according to Meals on Wheels of Boulder’s executive director Francea Phillips, “since we’re both in the food business!” The event will be a holiday cocktail reception beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 11th, in the Stadium Club at Folsom Field on the CU-Boulder campus. Co-hosting the event with Meals on Wheels of Boulder is the Boulder Flatirons Rotary Club.
The “cherry on the sundae” this year will be a live auction with auctioneer Don Martin, featuring trips, chef-prepared dinners in the winner’s home with wine pairings, extraordinary trees (such as the “Comfortable Shoe Tree” from Pedestrian Shops), classic jewelry and art work.
The traditional display and raffle of more than 50 donated holiday trees beautifully decorated with items of value will include the ever-popular money trees; spa trees with massages, facials, pedicures and spa products; and trees laden with gift certificates to restaurants and bars in
Boulder – many of which have been donors since the event’s inception in 2006. Tree donors determine the theme and items used to decorate their trees. Again this year there is a requirement that one must be present to win and trees must be removed by 9 p.m.
Finally, a silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind items of value, such as a closet make-over from Closet & Storage Concepts, wine baskets, gift certificates for professional family photos and much more.
Admission to the event is $75 per person, which includes the tree raffle and live and silent auctions, five tree raffle tickets, holiday hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktail and cash bar. Reservations can be made online at www.mowboulder.org, at the event or by calling 303-441-3907. Advance reservations will close on Wednesday, December 3rd but admission may be available at the door on the day of the event.
Other sponsors to date include Sterling Rice Group, Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti LLP, Merry Sue Clark, and The Camera.
To donate a tree or auction item, call 303-441-3907 or email trees@mowboulder.org.
