Katharine Bland, a Boulder native and 2006 graduate of Boulder High School, has been awarded the Judy K. Mayer scholarship from Webster University Conservatory of Theatre Arts in St. Louis.  The scholarship is awarded each year to a member of the graduating class for outstanding excellence in acting.  Bland graduated cum laude on May 8 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre.

Bland is currently serving as an Apprentice in the Great River Shakespeare Festival in Winona, MN, where she will play Lavinia in Titus Andronicus and understudy for the role of Emilia in Othello.  She plans to move to New York City in the fall to pursue a career in musical theatre, something she has dreamed of doing since she was nine years old.

While at Webster, Bland appeared in numerous Conservatory stage productions, including Company (Jo Anne), Wedding Singer (Angie/Ensemble), Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Suzanne), Our Town (Mrs. Webb), and Anton in Show Business (Kate/Ben/Jackey).  While growing up in Boulder, she was a member of the Peanut Butter Players and appeared in some memorable productions at Boulder High, such as Les Miserables (Fantine), Chicago (Roxy Hart) and Urinetown (Hope Cladwell).
